In celebration of International Youth Day, the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA), in collaboration with the African-Asia Youth Foundation Organisation (AAYFO), African Youth Transformation (AYT), and Ubungo Municipal, convened a pre-event on August 10th and 11th. With the theme “Green Skills for Youth: Towards a Sustainable World”, the event fostered dialogue among 201 participants from youth groups, schools, civil societies, diplomatic corps, media, and influencers.
Dr. Soumya Chavan, Director and 2nd Secretary of Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre at the High Commission of India in Tanzania, graced the event as a Guest Speaker. She inspired the youth, urging them to be innovative and proactive in seeking green skills for employment opportunities.
During the event, IITA shared insights about its youth in agribusiness program, sparking interest among attendees. As a direct outcome, a youth group named Godbless embarked on fruit production, showcasing the tangible impact of the International Youth Day event.
