ENABLE TAAT to Explore Somali Agriculture to Empower Youths in Agribusiness
The ENABLE TAAT and the sorghum commodity compact are exploring partnership opportunities with the government of Somalia on youth engagement in agriculture and the dissemination of appropriate technologies on sorghum.
The team, led by the ENABLE TAAT coordinator, Noel Mulinganya, conducted an ecosystem mapping of the agriculture sector for an in-depth understanding and guidance in developing a robust strategy for youth engagement in agriculture, priority enterprises, and commodities that will boost agricultural advancement in the country.
To achieve this, the team assessed various facilities that can be utilized as an agribusiness incubation centre and parks. Also, the team interacted with beneficiaries of various youth in agribusiness ongoing country projects, and agripreneurs in the country to channel a road map for ENABLE-TAAT’s intervention in Somalia.
The Somalia delegation led by the Minister of Agriculture and Irrigation, His Excellency Ahmed Mathobe, says the visit lays a strong foundation for mutually beneficial projects between TAAT and the Somali government. This according to him will empower Somali youth and contribute to the development of the nation’s agricultural landscape.
