Ten energetic young entrepreneurs from Lusaka recently completed a broiler business management training program. Held from June 16th to 25th, 2020, the program aimed to equip them with the necessary skills to become successful broiler producers.
The training covered a range of crucial topics, from biosecurity practices to prevent disease outbreaks to vaccination programs for optimal chicken health. Participants also learned the importance of closely monitoring their flock’s health and taking swift action if any issues arise.
Determined to put their newfound knowledge into action, the youths were thrilled to receive a significant boost – 1,000 broiler chicks and all the necessary poultry supplies to launch their own broiler enterprise.
Embracing every aspect of the process as a valuable learning experience, they successfully raised the chicks with minimal challenges. Their dedication and the skills gained from the training program were evident in their accomplishment.
Projecting an income of over $500 per six-week production cycle, these young agripreneurs are not only generating income but also reinvesting their profits to expand and maximize their success. This initiative exemplifies the power of equipping young people with the knowledge and resources they need to thrive in the agricultural sector. With their hard work and newfound expertise, the sky’s the limit for these future leaders in the poultry industry!
